What happens when a natural disaster hits a tiny town of 400? On August 28th 2011, life changed for the people of Pittsfield, Vermont. Hurricane Irene destroyed homes and roads completely cutting off all roads in and out of town. Pittsfield was an island, with no power and no phone service. But something amazing and beautiful happened.
Filmmaker Marion Abrams, and 36 other Pittsfield residents, tell that story. It’s the story of a community that was always self-reliant, strong, ingenious and generous, proving itself to be even more so when faced with challenge.
